Tyler Colvin hit a two-run home run as part of a six-run first inning to lead the Colorado Rockies in a 10-5 win over the Philadelphia Phillies in the second of a three-game set.
Wilin Rosario went 3-for-4 with two RBI and three runs scored while Nolan Arenado added three hits and two RBI for the Rockies, who snapped a three-game skid. Tyler Chatwood (4-1) pitched five innings and gave up two runs on seven hits while also hitting an RBI single in the win.
"It was nice to see our offense keep going and keep adding on to the lead," Rockies manager Walt Weiss said. "It was important for us to put that game away like we did."
John Mayberry stroked a two-run home run and Ben Revere went 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored for the Phillies, who have lost six of eight. Jonathan Pettibone (3-3) dropped his third straight decision as he gave up seven runs -- six earned -- on 10 hits over just three innings of work.
Michael Young beat out an infield single with Revere on third to give the Phils a run in the first inning, but the Rockies pounded Pettibone in the bottom of the frame.
With one out, Jordan Pacheco hit an infield single and scored when Carlos Gonzalez doubled. A single from Michael Cuddyer scored Gonzalez, and Cuddyer came home when Rosario followed with a triple. Colvin then smoked a pitch over the wall in left, and DJ LeMahieu later scored on a single from Chatwood that saw a bad throw from Humberto Quintero for a 6-1 lead.
"In that first inning, I really didn't make any of those pitches," Pettibone admitted. "If I make those pitches, maybe it's a different story."
Quintero singled with one out in the second, moved to second on Pettibone's groundout and came home on a single from Revere, but Arenado scored Rosario with a single in the third for a 7-2 advantage.
Colorado pushed three more runs across in the fourth inning as an RBI double from Rosario, and run-scoring singles from Arenado and Chatwood made it a 10-2 game.
Ryan Howard doubled in a run in the eighth, and Mayberry later hit his fifth homer of the year to cut the Phillies' deficit to 10-5.
