Crew, Impact tangle at Crew Stadium

Columbus, OH – The Montreal Impact will put their unbeaten streak on the line on Saturday when the Eastern Conference leaders challenge the Columbus Crew at Crew Stadium.

The Impact sit on top of the East with 26 points and will shoot to extend their unbeaten streak in league play to six consecutive matches.

Last time out, the Impact fell behind against Sporting Kansas City on the stoke of halftime via a goal in first-half stoppage time from U.S. international Graham Zusi.

But the Impact showed resolve and received goals in the second from Sanna Nyassi Collen Warner six minutes apart to sneak out of Sporting Park with an important three points.

"We were able to get the tying goal and then the second came along. We showed a lot of character, it was a difficult week for us with the championship in Vancouver and three games total this week," said Impact assistant coach Mauro Biello.

Columbus, meanwhile is coming off their worst performance of the season, suffering a lackluster 3-0 loss to the Philadelphia Union at PPL Park on June 5.

The Crew fell behind early as a result of a bit of back luck in the 25th minute when Philadelphia midfielder Brian Carroll unleashed a shot from distance that deflected off Crew defender Eric Gehrig and into the net.

Just four minutes later, the Crew conceded a second goal on a corner kick when Carroll flicked Sebastien Le Toux's corner toward the far post where Sheanon Williams powered it home with an acrobatic finish.

Philadelphia made it 3-0 in the 31st minute when a Le Toux cross to the near post was headed home by Conor Casey to finish off the Crew, who saw their winless streak extended to three straight matches.

"That was a really lethargic performance, especially in the first half," said Crew head coach Robert Warzycha. "I think the first goal was a joke and then we couldn't do anything more."

The Crew will need to improve their play at home if they hope to get a result against Montreal. Columbus has just one victory on home soil -- a 3-0 win over D.C. United on April 27.

In four all-time meetings between the sides, Columbus holds a 2-1-1 edge and the clubs played to a 1-1 draw back on April 14.
