Jason Garrett has finally acknowledged that he won't call plays for the Dallas Cowboys next season.

The Cowboys coach said Tuesday that Bill Callahan will assume a role Garrett has had since joining the Dallas staff in 2007.

Garrett said the decision was made five months ago but he was reluctant to share it because he's been around coaches who never revealed play-callers.

Last week, Dallas owner Jerry Jones strongly hinted that Callahan was calling plays, and Callahan acknowledged the decision when told what Jones said. Garrett still refused to say anything about a change.

Garrett apologized for the Cowboys not "being on the same page" with how the change was communicated. But he said everyone agreed it was the right decision, himself included.
