The Chicago Bears announced on Sunday that the team traded offensive lineman Gabe Carimi to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, contingent on the lineman passing a physical.

The Bears will reportedly receive a sixth-round pick in the 2014 draft.

Carimi, selected by the Bears with the 29th overall pick in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft, started the first two games of his rookie campaign, but sustained a season-ending knee injury.

The 24-year-old played in 16 games last season, with 14 starts, but finished his short stint with Chicago appearing in 18 games (16 starts) at right tackle and right guard.

The 6-foot-7, 316-pounder struggled to connect with the Bears' coaching staff and skipped out on all 10 voluntary OTA's this past offseason after working out on his own in Arizona.
