Los Angeles Kings center Mike Richards is out of Game 2 of the Western Conference finals due to an undisclosed upper body injury sustained when he took a big hit from Chicago Blackhawks center Dave Bolland in the series opener.

The hit on Richards occurred in the final minutes of the Kings' 2-1 loss on Saturday. Los Angeles coach Darryl Sutter said earlier Sunday that Richards was "fine" and the hit by Bolland was "not an issue," but Richards was scratched from the Game 2 lineup. His injury was then announced in the press box.

Richards has two goals and eight assists for a team-high 10 playoff points.

Defenseman Jake Muzzin also was scratched Sunday after he played in each of Los Angeles' first 14 playoff games.
