PITTSBURGH – Penguins forward Matt Cooke won't be disciplined further by the NHL after receiving a game misconduct in Pittsburgh's Game 1 loss to Boston in the Eastern Conference finals.
Cooke spent the second half of Saturday night's game in the dressing room after a boarding major penalty against Boston's Adam McQuaid. He'll be back in the lineup for Monday's Game 2.
He says the Penguins know what to expect now against the physical Bruins and won't be rattled as they try to even the series. After an eight-day layoff and a relatively easy win in the conference semifinals against Ottawa, Cooke figured his team was due for a wake-up call.
The Bruins certainly provided one. Boston powered by the Penguins 3-0, the first time the league's highest-scoring team was shut out this season.
