Clay Millican raced to his first career No. 1 qualifying position Saturday in the NHRA Summernationals at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park.

Millican claimed the top spot in Top Fuel with a run of 3.792 seconds at 321.27 mph. He will face Brandon Bernstein in the first round of eliminations.

"I'm just proud of our team," Millican said. "I wanted to do my job and not mess my boys up and to finally get a No. 1 means a lot."

Matt Hagan topped the Funny Car field, Mike Edwards qualified first in Pro Stock, and Steve Johnson led the Pro Stock Motorcycle order.

Hagan took his second No. 1 qualifying position of the season and 12th of his career with a 4.050 at 315.64 in a Dodge Charger. He will open the eliminations against Blake Alexander.

Pro Stock points leader Edwards secured his eighth No. 1 qualifying position of the season and 49th of his career with his Friday performance of 6.545 at 211.36. Johnson claimed his first No. 1 qualifying position in three years and the third of his career with his Friday run of 6.931 at 192.22 on a Suzuki.
