Barca tops Malaga to hit 100 points

Barcelona capped a dominant La Liga campaign on Saturday with a 4-1 win over Malaga at the Camp Nou, giving the Catalans 100 points for the season, which equals Real Madrid's record set last term.

David Villa's goal inside of three minutes sent Barca on its way, while Cesc Fabregas doubled the advantage in the 14th minute when he exchanged passes with Andres Iniesta and fired home the return ball past Malaga goalkeeper Wilfredo Caballero.

Martin Montoya stretched the lead to 3-0 for the hosts with a stunning half- volley from 20 yards just two minutes later, allowing Barca to go into halftime up 3-0.

Iniesta netted a goal in the 52nd minute to make it 4-0, while Malaga's lone consolation came in the 56th with a goal from Pedro Morales.

The win leaves Barcelona 15 points clear at the top of La Liga ahead of second-place Real Madrid, while Malaga ends the campaign with just one win from its final five matches.

Real Madrid 4, Osasuna 2

Madrid, Spain - Jose Mourinho's final match in charge of Real Madrid was a 4-2 victory over Osasuna at the Bernabeu on Saturday in a match that saw both sides have little to play for.

Madrid was already assured of second place, while Osasuna secured its safety last weekend.

Mourinho named a very inexperienced side with Cristiano Ronaldo, Xabi Alonso and Sergio Ramos each missing through injury while the boss once again left captain Iker Casillas on the bench, instead handing goalkeeper Jesus Fernandez his first start of the season.

Madrid took a 2-0 lead into halftime through goals from Gonzalo Higuain and Michael Essien, but saw Osasuna rally to level the contest in the 63rd minute as Roberto Torres and Alvaro Cejudo netted goals for the visitors.

But Mourinho went out on a winning note as Karim Benzema restored Madrid's lead in the 69th minute before Jose Callejon wrapped up the victory with a goal three minutes from time.

Celta Vigo 1, Espanyol 0

Vigo, Spain - Celta Vigo survived relegation on Saturday as Natxo Insa's first-half goal was enough for a 1-0 home victory over Espanyol.

Celta will remain in La Liga at the expense of Deportivo, which lost 1-0 on Saturday to allow Celta to climb to 17th place.

The lone goal arrived in the 15th minute when Iago Aspas crossed from the left and picked out Insa, who fired his shot into the upper right corner of the net.

From there, Celta was able to hold on for the win despite some periods of pressure from Espanyol, including a close-range volley over the crossbar from Christian Stuani, and a pair of fine stops from Celta goalkeeper Ruben Blanco on Sergio Garcia and Verdu.

Real Sociedad 1, Deportivo 0

Madrid, Spain - Real Sociedad claimed a place in the Champions League for next season while also dooming Deportivo to relegation on Saturday as Antoine Griezmann's goal in the 22nd minute helped Sociedad to a 1-0 victory.

Deportivo began the day in 17th place, but the club's loss, coupled with Celta Vigo's 1-0 win over Espanyol, leaves the club in 19th place.

Sociedad, meanwhile, moved into fourth place after Valencia's 4-3 defeat at Sevilla.

The difference in the match came in the 22nd minute when Sociedad's Imanol Agirretxe danced past a a host of defenders and fired a shot toward goal that was parried by goalkeeper Daniel Aranzubia. However, Griezmann was on hand to knock home the rebound, and Sociedad held on for the win despite Markel Larranaga being sent off in the 84th minute.

Granada 2, Getafe 0

Granada, Spain - Getafe failed to claim a spot in the Europa League on Saturday after sustaining a 2-0 defeat at Granada.

A win for Getafe along with a Sevilla defeat would have handed Getafe the final Europa League place.

Granada came into the match having just recently secured its safety, and the club celebrated with a first-half goal from Nolito to take a 1-0 lead.

Getafe squandered a number of early chances in the game, and was punished with a second goal from Granada in the 63rd as Youssef El Arabi turned home a pass from Allan Nyom.

Levante 1, Real Betis 1

Levante, Spain - Real Betis and Levante closed out their respective seasons with a 1-1 draw the Estadi Ciutat de Valencia on Saturday.

Betis will be headed to the Europa League next season, while Levante came into Saturday's match with a chance to join them with a win and results elsewhere going their way.

Pedro Rios had Levante in position for the win with his goal in the 51st minute, but Jorge Molina canceled it out for Betis in the 67th with a fine strike from 20 yards.

Mallorca 4, Valladolid 2

Mallorca, Spain - Mallorca finished off its season on a high note as the club claimed a 4-2 home win over Valladolid on Saturday, but it wasn't enough to remain in La Liga.

Mallorca entered the day on the bottom of the league, but a win and results in other games going the right way would give them a chance to escape the drop.

And the home side did its part with first-half goals from Alfaro and Jose Luis Marti for a 2-1 halftime lead.

Giovani Dos Santos and Javier Marquez netted goals after the break for the hosts to secure the win, but Mallorca fell one point short after Celta Vigo's 1-0 victory over Espanyol.

Rayo Vallecano 2, Athletic Bilbao 2

Madrid, Spain - Rayo Vallecano was held to a 2-2 draw at home by Athletic Bilbao despite the visitors playing the final 80 minutes of the game with 10 men.

Aritz Aduriz was sent off just 10 minutes into the match for Athletic, and Franco Vazquez put Rayo on top nine minutes later.

But goals from Markel Susaeta and Jon Aurtenetxe put Athletic in front before Piti claimed a point for his team with a goal in the 55th.

Atletico Madrid 3, Real Zaragoza 1

Aragon, Spain - Real Zaragoza fell 3-1 to Atletico Madrid on Saturday, ending the club's four-year stay in the Spanish top flight.

All four goals in the match were scored in the final six minutes with Atletico taking the lead in the 84th through Arda Turan.

Helder Postiga's equalizer in the 89th gave Zaragoza hope, but Celta Vigo's 1-0 win over Espanyol rendered the result of the match useless.

And things were made worse in the final minutes as Diego Costa netted two goals for Atletico to cap the win, leaving Atletico third in the table.

Sevilla 4, Valencia 3

Seville, Spain - Alvaro Negredo's stunning four-goal performance on Saturday helped Sevilla to a 4-3 win over Valencia, knocking Los Che out of the top four.

Valencia entered the match two points clear of Real Sociedad for fourth place, but Sociedad's win over Deportivo coupled with Valencia's defeat leaves Sociedad one point clear in the race for the final Champions League spot.

Negredo scored twice in the final five minutes of the first half to cancel out Ever Banega's 12th-minute goal for Valencia, but the real turning point came just before the break when Jonas received a questionable red card, reducing Valencia to 10 men.

The visitors still battled back to level the contest through Roberto Soldado in the 56th, only for Negredo to answer one minute later.

Negredo netted his fourth goal of the day in the 61st, and Soldado was only able to pull one goal back in the 88th.
