Clay Millican raced to the Top Fuel qualifying lead Friday in the NHRA Summernationals at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park.

Millican had a run of 3.792 seconds at 321.27 mph during the second of two qualifying sessions. If the effort stands, it will be Millican's first No. 1 qualifying position in his 155-race career.

"We hope this is just the initial start of good things to come," Millican said. "We've had a great season and our car has run well everywhere we've run. It was a huge deal for me to keep the car nice and straight. What a great run. Some of our best numbers ever."

Matt Hagan led the Funny Car field, Mike Edwards topped the Pro Stock order, and Steve Johnson led in Pro Stock Motorcycle.

Hagan powered his Dodge Charger to a 4.050 at 315.64, points leader finished at 6.545 at 210.73 in a Chevy Camaro, and Johnson had a 6.931 at 192.22 on a Suzuki.
