Defender Kolo Toure has agreed to a deal with Liverpool. the club announced on Tuesday.

Toure, 32, will join the Reds on July 1 from Manchester City and brings a wealth of experience to Anfield, having played for both City and Arsenal in the Premier League.

"Liverpool Football Club can today announce they have agreed in principle with Kolo Toure to join the club on July 1," a statement on the club's official website read. "The powerful defender will be registered as a Reds player when his current deal with Manchester City expires."

The Ivory Coast international made over 100 appearances for the Citizens over his four years at the Etihad Stadium, winning the league title and F.A. Cup during his tenure.

Toure's arrival fills a big need along the backline for Brendan Rodgers' club after talisman Jaime Carragher called it a career.
