The Phoenix Coyotes have taken significant steps toward gaining some long-awaited stability.

With all the false hope offered in the past, it's hard to get excited until this four-year saga has actually ended.

The NHL agreed last week to sell the team to Renaissance Sports & Entertainment, led by a group of Canadian investors. It also signed general manager Don Maloney to a long-term contract and exercised contract extensions for two assistant coaches.

The next step will be for RSE and the NHL to work out an arena lease agreement with the city of Glendale.

RSE's partners, NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman and Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly met Tuesday with members of the Glendale City Council to discuss a lease deal for Jobing.com Arena.
