Alexis Sanchez and Pedro kept Barcelona's hopes of finishing the La Liga season with triple digits in points after the duo guided the club to a 2-0 defeat of Espanyol at the Estadi Cornella-El Prat on Sunday.

The visitors went in front in the 14th minute following a well-worked move in the penalty area.

Alexis Sanchez played a neat one-two with David Villa, cut inside off of the return pass and curled a beautiful strike just inside the far post.

Barcelona came within inches of doubling its lead just after the half-hour mark when Alex Song's cross was met by Cesc Fabregas, but the Spain international slammed his first-time effort off the post.

The two sides remained level, in score and number of players, until the dying stages.

Espanyol was reduced to 10 men when Mubarak Wakaso was sent off in the 80th minute, and Barcelona took advantage of the extra man six minutes later when Pedro capped a give-and-go in the penalty area with a half-volley into the back of the net.

Barcelona kept its first clean sheet in six games to preserve the two-goal margin and improve to 97 points on the season. The champions can make 100 points with a victory over Malaga next weekend.

Espanyol has lost two league contests in a row to remain on 44 points.

Real Sociedad 3, Real Madrid 3

San Sebastian, Spain - Xabi Prieto scored in the third minute of stoppage time to see Real Sociedad claim a dramatic point from a 3-3 draw with Real Madrid at the Anoeta on Sunday.

Gonzalo Higuain and Jose Callejon had given Madrid a two-goal lead only to see it erased by a Prieto penalty and an equalizer from Antoine Griezmann.

Sami Khedira thought he had won it in the 80th minute for the visitors, but Prieto struck again in added time to lift La Real to 63 points on the season and keep the club's hopes of Champions League football for next term alive.

Atletico Madrid 0, Mallorca 0

Madrid, Spain - Mallorca slipped to the foot of the La Liga table on Sunday with a 0-0 with Atletico Madrid at the Vicente Calderon.

The result keeps Mallorca, on 33 points, alive in the hunt to avoid relegation, but the club must claim maximum points on the final matchday of the season in order to achieve that feat.

Atletico remains third in the league on 73 points.

Levante 1, Athletic Bilbao 0

Bilbao, Spain - Juanlu scored in stoppage time to lift Levante to a 1-0 defeat of Athletic Bilbao at San Mames on Sunday.

Iker Muniain was sent off for the home side in the 62nd minute, but it took the visitors nearly 30 minutes to take advantage of the extra man as Juanlu bagged his second goal of the season.

Levante jumps to 11th place by climbing to 45 points on the season, one point better than Bilbao.

Rayo Vallecano 2, Getafe 1

Getafe, Spain - Rayo Vallecano overturned a one-goal deficit to claim a second consecutive league victory on Sunday, edging Getafe, 2-1, at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez.

After a scoreless opening period, Rafa Lopez opened the scoring for the home side in the 49th minute, but his goal was negated by Chori Dominguez four minutes later.

The two sides appeared to be heading for a draw until an own goal from Diego Castro Gimenez in the 90th minute helped Rayo climb to 52 points on the season. Getafe has lost three straight to remain on 47 points.

Malaga 3, Deportivo 1

Malaga, Spain - Malaga snapped a three-game winless run by earning a 3-1 defeat of Deportivo at La Rosaleda on Sunday.

Javier Saviola and Julio Baptista gave the home side a two-goal lead before Diogo Salomao cut the deficit in half, but Isco struck 10 minutes from time to seal Malaga's 16th league win of the season.

Malaga retains sixth place in Spain's top flight for another week as the club climbs to 57 points. Deportivo's 35 points keep the club one point clear of the relegation zone.

Osasuna 2, Sevilla 1

Navarra, Spain - Osasuna assured itself a place in Spain's top flight for next year, avoiding relegation thanks to a 2-1 defeat of Sevilla at El Sadar on Sunday.

Alvaro Negredo gave the visitors the lead five minutes after the halftime interval, but Osasuna answered through Francisco Punal in the 63rd minute and Alvaro Cejudo 16 minutes later.

Osasuna improves to 39 points on the season to move five points clear of the drop zone with one match to play. Sevilla's two successive losses leave the club stuck in ninth place on 47 points.

Real Betis 4, Real Zaragoza 0

Seville, Spain - Dorlan Pabon bagged a brace to lead Real Betis to a 4-0 thrashing of Real Zaragoza at the Benito Villamarin on Sunday.

Ruben Castro and Pabon handed the home side a two-goal lead by halftime while Jorge Molina extended the lead five minutes after the restart. Pabon completed his brace 19 minutes from time to seal the emphatic win and help Betis improve to 55 points.

Real Zaragoza has lost two straight league matches to remain on 34 points as the club heads into the final round of La Liga play in second-to-last place.

Valencia 1, Granada 0

Valencia, Spain - Roberto Soldado continued his fine season by notching the lone goal in Valencia's 1-0 defeat of Granada on Sunday.

Soldado struck in the 59th minute of Sunday's affair with his 22nd goal of the campaign.

Valencia has won four straight in league play to climb to 65 points on the season. Other results in the top flight mean that Granada's 39 points will be enough to keep the club in La Liga for another season.

Celta Vigo 2, Valladolid 0

Valladolid, Spain - Celta Vigo took a major step toward survival on Sunday by earning a 2-0 defeat of Valladolid at the Jose Zorrilla.

Gustavo Cabral and Iago Aspas scored on opposite sides of halftime to lead the Celta Vigo to victory and bring the club to 34 points on the season. Celta heads into the final round occupying the last relegation spot.

Valladolid has lost two straight La Liga contests, but the club's 43 points this season ensure its safety.
