Cleveland Indians closer Chris Perez was knocked around in the ninth before leaving the team's contest, a 6-5 loss against the Boston Red Sox, with an apparent shoulder injury.

A laboring Perez, who blew his second straight save opportunity, was charged with four runs on two hits and three walks.

He may have bigger issues to worry about, as the righty was seen clutching his arm with every close pitch home plate umpire Chris Guccione called a ball.

Cleveland manager Terry Francona came out in middle of Jacoby Ellsbury's at- bat to see if Perez was all right. When he threw a warm-up pitch, it veered far off to the left, well away from his catcher and Francona pulled him from the game.

Perez is 2-1 and has posted six saves with a 4.32 ERA in 16 appearances this season for Cleveland.
