Antonio Barton is transferring from Memphis to Tennessee.

Barton confirmed to The Associated Press on Sunday that he had chosen Tennessee, where the guard says he thinks the Volunteers have all the pieces in place for him to play immediately on a team that can win.

He announced in April that he would transfer from Memphis after graduation. He started 31 games in his first two years with the Tigers. But he averaged 5.6 points and 1.3 rebounds coming off the bench this past season and missed most of the final two months because of a hairline fracture in his right foot.

Barton fills a big need for Tennessee. The Vols' only experienced point guard is Brandon Lopez, a walk-on who played in 17 games. They also have incoming freshman Darius Thompson.
