Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Ian Kennedy will not make his scheduled start on Monday due to a lacerated right index finger.

Kennedy, who was slated to take the mound for the first game of a doubleheader against the Texas Rangers, sustained the injury while washing dishes at his home. He is expected to miss only one turn in the rotation.

The Diamondbacks will call up left-hander Tyler Skaggs from Triple-A Reno to fill Kennedy's spot. The highly regarded prospect went 1-3 with a 5.83 ERA in six starts for Arizona late last season.

In nine starts for the Aces this year, Skaggs has gone 4-5 with a 5.23 ERA and 54 strikeouts in 51 2/3 innings.
