The Philadelphia Phillies officially placed catcher Carlos Ruiz on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday due to a grade 2 right hamstring strain.

Ruiz injured himself rounding second base in the second inning of Sunday's win against the Cincinnati Reds. The 34-year old veteran had hit .235 with two doubles and two RBI in 16 games after missing the first 25 games of the year due to a suspension for testing positive for a banned substance.

He is expected to miss three to four weeks.

Right-hander Tyler Cloyd, who struck out four in 6 1/3 innings in his only start with the Phillies earlier this season, took Ruiz's spot on the roster. He was scheduled to start Tuesday night against the Marlins.
