Anaheim Ducks defenseman Francois Beauchemin has undergone successful reconstructive surgery on a ligament in his right knee.

The Ducks announced Monday that Beauchemin hopes to return in time for the start of next season.

Beauchemin played the past month with a torn ligament in his knee. He had surgery last Thursday, shortly after the Pacific Division champion Ducks were eliminated from the first round of the playoffs.

Beauchemin turns 33 next month. He is expected to recover fully, the Ducks say.

Beauchemin had an outstanding season for the Ducks, getting six goals and 18 assists with a plus-19 rating.

He also was Anaheim's co-scoring leader in the postseason with six points in seven games against the Detroit Red Wings.
