Arlington, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - The Texas Rangers placed right-handed pitcher Alexi Ogando on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday with inflammation in his throwing elbow.

Ogando saw relief action in 27 games this season and has gone 2-3 with a 6.84 ERA. He ranks 10th for relief appearances in the American League.

To take his place on the roster, the team called up left-hander Aaron Poreda from Triple-A Round Rock for his second stint with the Rangers this season.

Poreda has gone 2-0 with a 3.38 ERA in 15 games with the Rangers. He began his career in Texas with nine consecutive scoreless appearances during his first stint.
