Bronx, NY – New York Yankees pitcher Andy Pettitte was removed from Thursday's game against the Seattle Mariners with a tight left trapezius muscle.
Pettitte struck out the first two batters in the top of the fifth inning before being relieved by Shawn Kelley.
The veteran left-hander departed with the Yankees trailing 2-1. Pettitte, making his 499th career start, gave up four hits, walked three and fanned five.
