CUP: Thursday Charlotte Notebook

JUST TRUCKIN’ — The first of two practice sessions for tomorrow night’s North Carolina Education Lottery 200 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway is in the books, with Ty Dillon atop the speed charts.

Dillon’s best lap at the 1.5-mile track was 179.283 miles per hour in his No. 3 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet Silverado. Second fast at 178.784 mph was reigning Truck Series champion James Buescher and his No. 31 Turner Scott Motorsports Chevy. Kyle Busch, Ross Chastain and Ryan Blaney completed the top five.

JUST TRUCKIN’ — Some 11 days and nights of action at Charlotte Motor Speedway kicks off today with two rounds of practice for tomorrow night’s North Carolina Education Lottery 200 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race. Today’s practices run from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. ET, and from 2-4:30 p.m.

There is no television coverage today, nor is there any on-track Sprint Cup activity today.

On Friday, SPEED will televise Truck Series qualifying from CMS at 4 p.m. ET, followed by the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Setup at 7:30 p.m. and the race at 8 p.m.
