Braves' Venters has "Tommy John" surgery

Atlanta, GA – Jonny Venters underwent "Tommy John" surgery Thursday to reconstruct the ulnar collateral ligament in his left elbow.

The procedure was done by Dr. James Andrews in Gulf Breeze, Florida. Venters was forced out from a spring training game in late March with an elbow sprain. This was Venters' second "Tommy John" surgery, the other came in 2005.

He was 5-4 with a 3.22 ERA in 66 games last season.
