Rays' Longoria named AL Player of the Week

New York, NY – Tampa Bay Rays third baseman Evan Longoria has been selected as the American League's Player of the Week for games played between May 6-12.

Longoria earned his sixth career weekly honor after batting .464 (13-for-28) with three homers, five doubles and an MLB-best 11 RBI over seven games.

Others considered for the award included Kansas City left fielder Alex Gordon, Chicago starting pitcher Chris Sale and Minnesota catcher Joe Mauer.
