The Detroit Tigers have placed center fielder Austin Jackson on the 15-day disabled list and recalled outfielder Avisail Garcia from Triple-A Toledo.

Jackson heads to the DL with a pulled right hamstring. He is hitting .272 with two homers, seven doubles, 11 RBI and 33 runs scored through 34 games this season.

The 21-year-old Garcia had a robust .432 batting average (16-for-37) in eight games for the Mud Hens

Garcia made his big league debut with the Tigers in 2012 as a late-season callup, posting a .319 average in 23 games. He contributed to Detroit's run to the World Series, hitting .455 (5-for-11) with three RBI in the sweep of the New York Yankees in the ALCS.
