Boston Red Sox catcher David Ross was placed on the 7-day concussion disabled list Sunday.
Ross suffered the injury during Saturday's 3-2 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays.
The 36-year-old Ross is batting .209 with four home runs and five RBI in 15 games this season.
Catcher Ryan Lavarnway was recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket to fill his spot on the 25-man roster.
Lavarnway, 25, was previously with Boston from April 25-27, but did not play in a game. In 21 games with Pawtucket, he compiled a .321 batting average with two home runs and 15 RBI. He has also thrown out 46.7 percent (7-of-15) of attempted base stealers, which leads the International League.
