Celtic continued its impressive season by claiming an emphatic 4-0 victory over St. Johnstone at Parkhead on Saturday.

The Hoops were in front after just two minutes as Joe Ledley opened the scoring for the home side.

Charlie Mulgrew doubled Celtic's advantage in the 36th minute to send the Hoops into the halftime interval with a two-goal lead, but it was James Forrest's strike six minutes after the restart that put the victory beyond any doubt.

Frazer Wright conceded an own goal in second-half stoppage time to add insult to injury for St. Johnstone, which remains fourth in Scotland's top flight with 53 points on the season.

Celtic, on 76 points, sees its lead atop the Premier League table jump to 16 points as the champions claim their 23rd league victory of the season.

Elsewhere on Saturday, Gary Mackay-Steven scored in second-half stoppage time to lift Dundee United to a 2-1 victory over Inverness, Kilmarnock earned a 3-2 win over Dundee and St. Mirren played to a 0-0 draw with Aberdeen.
