MLS suspends San Jose's Chavez

The MLS Disciplinary Committee announced Friday that San Jose Earthquakes midfielder Marvin Chavez has been suspended for two games and fined an undisclosed amount for exhibiting violent conduct.

The incident came in the 58th minute of the club's match with Toronto FC on Wednesday as Chavez was judged to have endangered the safety of TFC defender Logan Pause.

The MLS Players Union informed the League that Chavez will appeal the second game of the suspension. Chavez will serve the first game of his suspension on Saturday when the 'Quakes take on Seattle Sounders FC at CenturyLink Field.
