The San Francisco 49ers and Levi Strauss & Co. (LS&Co.) announced on Wednesday that the two are expected to reach an agreement for a $220 million, 20-year naming rights deal for the team's future stadium.
Levi's, an apparel company based out of the Bay Area, is proposing a naming rights partnership with the Santa Clara Stadium Authority and San Francisco 49ers on Thursday that would officially make the company the team's sponsor.
The 49ers will spend the upcoming 2013 season at Candlestick Park in San Francisco and move to their new home field -- expected to be named Levi's Stadium -- in Santa Clara for the 2014 season.
"It is very fitting to see two of the Bay Area's best-known brands coming together to showcase the best our region has to offer," Mayor Ed Lee said. "Every time a fan turns on their television to watch a 49ers home game from Levi's��� Stadium, the entire region will be on center stage. And, in a few short weeks, we are hopeful that we will host Super Bowl 50 or 51 and experience the enormous economic boost and lasting legacy for the entire Bay Area."
