Esteban Toledo parred the third playoff hole on Sunday to win the Insperity Championship.

Toledo tied the low round of the day on the Tournament Course at The Woodlands Country Club with a 5-under 67 to meet third-round leader Gene Sauers (74) and Mike Goodes (72) at 6-under-par 210.

"I felt great this morning. I told my wife that I was going to go out and shoot a 66 and catch up with them," Toledo said. "And I shoot 67; I guess that was good enough, but I was very focused on the game all day long."

The three returned to the 18th hole for the first two playoffs, and after they all parred the first extra hole, Sauers was eliminated with a bogey at the second after hitting his second shot into the water.

Toledo and Goodes then headed to the 17th hole for the third playoff, where Toledo 2-putted for par and the win as Goodes missed a 6-foot par effort.

"Esteban played great," said Goodes. "It was tough out there. The wind was gusting and the greens got real crusty and hard to make putts coming in."

It was Toledo's third straight top-10 finish, but his first career victory on the Champions Tour.

Mark Calcavecchia (69) and Loren Roberts (72) shared fourth place at minus-3, while Jay Haas (67) and Barry Lane (71) tied for sixth at 1-under.

Sauers opened the day with a 2-stroke lead over Goodes and picked up another shot with a birdie at the first to move to 9-under.

But Goodes closed the gap with a birdie at the second and pulled even closer as Sauers bogeyed the third.

At the fifth, Goodes jumped into the lead with his second straight birdie coupled with Sauers' bogey at the same hole.

The lead was shortlived, however, as Goodes tripped to a bogey at the seventh to meet Sauers at 7-under.

After both bogeyed the eighth, Sauers traded a birdie with Goodes' bogey at the 10th to move to minus-7 and grab a 2-stroke lead.

Toledo, meanwhile, opened his round with an eagle at the first before trading a bogey at the fifth with a birdie at the sixth to hit the turn at 3-under.

He then opened his inward nine with a birdie at the 10th to meet Goodes in second place at 4-under as Goodes bogeyed the 11th.

Toledo briefly took sole possession of second with a birdie at the 13th, but Goodes followed with the next group and also birdied the 13th to again make it a tie for second at 5-under.

Sauers joined them with a birdie at the 13th to build his advantage to three strokes.

Toledo again took sole possession of second with a birdie at the 15th, but it would turn into a 1-stroke lead when Sauers reached the 15th and hit his drive out of bounds before 3-putting for an eight to fall to 5-under.

"Gave the greens a little too much respect, thinking they were really fast, gave them too much respect and left it way short and I 3-putted," Sauers said about the 15th. "That's two big numbers in two tournaments that I've let get away."

Sauers bounced back with a birdie at the 16th and Goodes also birdied the 16th to make it a 3-way tie for the lead at 6-under.

All three would close with pars from there to force the playoff.
