Real Madrid managed to keep its title hopes alive by coming out on top of a seven-goal thriller at the Bernabeu on Saturday.

Madrid defeated Valladolid 4-3 to improve to 77 points on the season, bringing the club to within eight points of first-place Barcelona.

Saturday's contest started dimly for Real Madrid as Oscar Gonzalez handed the visitors the lead in the eighth minute. Angel Di Maria and Cristiano Ronaldo scored six minutes apart to see Madrid gain the edge, but Javi Guerra broke through shortly after to send the two sides into the halftime interval level at two goals apiece.

Kaka netted his third league goal of the season to help restore his side's one-goal advantage while Ronaldo nodded home a corner kick in the 70th minute to give Madrid an insurance goal.

It proved to be the game-winning strike as Lluis Sastre belted a volley just inside the post three minutes from time for Valladolid's consolation goal.

Valencia 4, Osasuna 0

Valencia, Spain - Valencia strengthened its bid for a fourth-place finish by claiming a resounding 4-0 defeat of nine-man Osasuna at the Mestalla on Saturday.

Roberto Soldado and Ricardo Costa scored a goal apiece in the final six minutes of the first half to put the home side in the driver's seat.

The 58th-minute sending off of Javi Arribas aided the proceedings for Valencia as Ever Banega made it three at the hour mark. David Timor was handed his marching orders in the 75th minute and Jonas converted a penalty kick in stoppage time to seal the emphatic win.

Valencia moves to 56 points to climb to within striking distance of fourth- place Real Sociedad while Osasuna remains two points clear of the relegation zone with 33 points through 34 matches.

Granada 1, Malaga 0

Granada, Spain - Odion Ighalo produced the lone goal at Los Carmenes on Saturday as Granada ran out to a 1-0 victory over Malaga.

Ighalo's strike in the 28th minute proved to be all Granada would need to secure a second consecutive league win, which brings the club to 35 points on the season.

Malaga has lost two of its last three La Liga contests to remain on 53 points.

Deportivo 0, Atletico Madrid 0

Madrid, Spain - Deportivo climbed out of the relegation zone on Saturday thanks to a point gained from a 0-0 draw with Atletico Madrid at the Riazor.

The draw brings Deportivo to 32 points on the season and one point clear of the drop zone.

Atletico improves to 69 points as it remains isolated in third place.
