Frankfurt, Germany – A pair of goals from Alexander Meier helped Eintracht to a 3-1 home win against Dusseldorf on Saturday, keeping the hosts within three points of a place in the top four.
Meier opened the scoring after 31 minutes when he was on hand to finish off a parried shot from Srdjan Lakic, who found the net himself early in the second half by heading home a corner kick from Takashi Inui.
A nice solo effort from Dani Schahin allowed Dusseldorf to pull within a goal as he ran 50 yards before slotting his shot past goalkeeper Oka Nikolov.
But Meier ensured that all three points would be staying in Frankfurt with a superb finish from the top of the penalty area that was curled into the upper corner of the net.
The result has Eintracht on course for at least a place in the Europa League next season, while Dusseldorf is in danger of dropping into the bottom three if Augsburg earns a point at Freiburg on Sunday.
Borussia Dortmund 1, Bayern Munich 1
Dortmund, Germany - In a preview of the Champions League final in three weeks, Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich played to a 1-1 draw at Signal Iduna Park on Saturday.
Both managers used the fixture to rest some key players with Bayern having already locked up the league title and Dortmund having little incentive either.
Kevin Grosskreutz opened the scoring for Dortmund after 11 minutes when he finished off a cross from Jakub Blaszczykowski, while Bayern answered through Mario Gomez, who nodded home Rafinha's cross.
Robert Lewandowski could have put Dortmund back in front on the hour mark, but his penalty kick was saved by goalkeeper Manuel Neuer after Bayern's Jerome Boateng handled the ball inside his own area.
Any hopes Bayern had of snatching the win were reduced in the 64th minute as Rafinha collected his second yellow card, although the champions were able to hold on for a point.
Bayer Leverkusen 2, Nurnberg 0
Nurnberg, Germany - Bayer Leverkusen locked up a spot in the top three by notching a 2-0 win at Nurnberg on Saturday with goals from Omer Toprak and Stefan Kiessling.
Toprak's goal was somewhat of a milestone as it marked his first in 89 Bundesliga appearances.
Gonzalo Castro crossed the ball into the area and Toprak got up to send a powerful header past goalkeeper Raphael Schafer to put Leverkusen in front midway through the first half.
Nurnberg's Per Nilsson handled the ball inside his own penalty area in the 62nd minute, allowing Kiessling to convert from the spot, while the visitors should have added to the lead in the 81st minute when Sidney Sam's penalty kick struck the post.
Hannover 2, Mainz 2
Hannover, Germany - Nicolai Muller netted a goal in each half to help Mainz earn a 2-2 draw at Hannover on Saturday, although the result likely brings an end to any European hopes that either side had.
Muller found the net after 25 minutes when he took advantage of a poor giveaway from Hannover's Jan Schlaudraff.
But Hannover equalized 11 minutes later through Artur Sobiech, who was set up by Schlaudraff, while Sobiech turned provider on Mame Biram Diouf's go-ahead goal 20 minutes from time.
However, Muller prevented Hannover from claiming all three points when he beat goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler with a shot from a tight angle in the 79th, sealing a point for his team.
Greuther Furth 2, Stuttgart 0
Stuttgart, Germany - Greuther Furth stunned Stuttgart with a 2-0 away win on Saturday that is just Furth's fourth victory of the season.
The home side dominated the first half but failed to capitalize, and they were punished for their wastefulness with a poor second-half display.
Gotoku Sakai's own goal in the 51st minute handed the visitors the lead, but they failed to take advantage of a penalty kick 15 minutes from time when Bernd Nehrig's effort was saved by goalkeeper Sven Ulreich after Stuttgart had been reduced to 10 men with a 74th-minute red card to Antonio Rudiger.
But Ilir Azemi wrapped up the away win with a goal in the 89th minute for Furth, which remains on the bottom of the league and has already been assured of relegation.
Werder Bremen 2, Hoffenheim 2
Bremen, Germany - Hoffenheim kept its survival hopes alive on Saturday with a pair of late goals from Sven Schipplock to earn a 2-2 draw at Werder Bremen.
Bremen looked to be on course for three points as Aaron Hunt converted an early penalty kick before Kevin De Bruyne doubled the lead in the 24th minute for the hosts.
But Hoffenheim pulled to within a goal in the 85th minute when Schipplock fired a shot high into the net past goalkeeper Sebastian Mielitz.
He brought Hoffenheim all the way back in stoppage time when he was on hand to fire home from Andreas Ludwig's header, leaving Hoffenheim two points from safety, while Bremen is just three points above the drop zone.
