Wigan defender Maynor Figueroa will miss the remainder of the season with a groin injury, the club confirmed on Thursday.
Figueroa, 30, will miss Wigan's final four Premier League matches as well as the FA Cup final against Manchester City after he was carried off the pitch in last Saturday's 2-2 draw with Tottenham.
Figueroa had missed only one league game this season through suspension.
"Scans confirmed our worst fears. He is going to be out for the rest of the season and probably a longer period," said Wigan boss Roberto Martinez.
The Latics are 18th in the Premiership, five points from safety, but they have a match in hand on their fellow relegation-battling clubs, Newcastle United, Aston Villa and Sunderland.
"He is Mr. Reliable, someone who has never missed any sort of time during the time he has been at Wigan Athletic," Martinez continued. "Unfortunately he is now going to miss the most important period in a season."
