Detroit, MI – The Detroit Tigers placed pitcher Phil Coke on the 15-day disabled list prior to Wednesday's game against the Minnesota Twins.
Coke has been dealing with a left groin strain that has sidelined him since last weekend. The move is retroactive to April 26.
In nine relief appearances this season, Coke is 0-3 with one save and an 8.31 earned run average.
To take his place in the bullpen, Detroit recalled pitcher Jose Ortega from Triple-A Toledo. He allowed an unearned run on five hits over 14 innings with the Mud Hens this season.
