The Philadelphia Phillies activated outfielder Delmon Young from the 15-day disabled list prior to Tuesday's game against the Cleveland Indians.

Young signed a one-year contract with the Phillies over the winter after helping the Detroit Tigers to a World Series appearance last season. He was recovering from ankle surgery performed in November.

The former No. 1 overall pick is expected to be in the lineup Tuesday, probably as the designated hitter.

In seven minor-league games, Young hit .367 with two RBI at Single-A Clearwater and Triple-A Lehigh Valley. He batted .267 with 18 homers and 74 RBI in 151 games for the Tigers last season.

The Phillies paid Young a $250,000 bonus for being on the active roster. The team also designated outfielder Ezequiel Carrera for assignment.
