The Cincinnati Reds will be without another key player for the time being after the injury-plagued club placed outfielder Chris Heisey on the 15-day disabled list Monday.

Heisey suffered a strained right hamstring while running out a ground ball during Saturday's 6-3 loss at Washington. He had been serving as the club's primary left fielder in place of Ryan Ludwick, who is out until likely July due to a torn labrum in his right shoulder that required surgery.

The 28-year-old, who becomes the seventh player to be placed on the DL by Cincinnati this season, was batting just .173 with two home runs and five RBI in 23 games.

Cincinnati recalled outfielder Donald Lutz from Double-A Pensacola to fill the roster spot. The 23-year-old was batting .211 with five homers and 14 RBI for the Blue Wahoos this season, and slugged 22 homers between Single and Double A in 2012.
