Oakland Athletics third baseman Josh Donaldson earned the American League Player of the Week award for the period ending April 28.

Donaldson, his first time receiving the honor, knocked in 10 runs during a monster week at the plate in which he batted .545 (12-for-22) with seven doubles, seven walks and four runs scored.

Other players considered for the award were Toronto's Edwin Encarnacion, Boston's David Ortiz, Detroit's Anibal Sanchez, Seattle's Felix Hernandez, Tampa Bay's Matt Moore, Oakland's Bartolo Colon, Minnesota's Kevin Correia and New York Yankees' Mariano Rivera.
