1 (3) - Dion Jordan, DE Oregon; 2 (54) - Jamar Taylor, CB, Boise State; 3 (77) Dallas Thomas, OT, Tennessee; 3 (93) - Will Davis, CB, Utah State; 4 (104) - Jelani Jenkins, OLB, Florida; 4 (106) - Dion Sims, TE, Michigan State; 5 (164) - Mike Gillislee, RB, Florida; 5 (166) - Caleb Sturgis, K, Florida; 7 (250) - Don Jones, SS, Arkansas State

Top Pick Analysis: Jordan is a breathtaking athlete but he was a part-time player in Eugene and has a long way to go before becoming a polished Jason Taylor-like edge threat. Second-round pick Jamar Taylor is actually a much safer pick and a guy who can help a rebuilding secondary quickly. Thomas, a tackle at Tennessee, could project on the right side but shaky feet say he should move inside.

Best Value Pick: It's doubtful Sturgis will be as successful as Blair Walsh was in Minnesota as a rookie last season but he comes in with the reputation as a very accurate kicker who can help Miami tilt the field.

Questionable Calls: Davis is a man corner with some ball skills but most had a fifth or sixth-round grade on him so it was a bit of a reach to take him on the second day.

Summary: The NFL's resident bipolar mess, the Oakland Raiders, sent the third overall pick to South Beach and the Dolphins, who seem to be going all in for 2013. selected Jordan, the raw Oregon pass rusher. The guess here is the Dolphins went up because they thought Chip Kelly was taking his old acolyte from Nike University. The rest of us though the Fish were going up to get Oklahoma left tackle Lane Johnson, who would have been the more prudent option. All in all this was a mixed bag for general manager Jeff Ireland. He did some nice things later but this draft will be defined by Jordan, who could team with Cameron Wake to give Miami a relentless rush off the edges or turn into a third-down situational player who gets pushed around by beefier NFL offensive tackles.
