Francesca Schiavone had little trouble in a straight-set win over Lourdes Dominguez Lino to capture the Moroccan Grand Prix title.
The sixth-seeded Schiavone rolled to a 6-1, 6-3 victory on Sunday for her sixth career title and first since last May in Strasbourg. The 2010 French Open champ and 2011 Roland Garros runner-up improved to 6-10 all-time in finals.
It had been a struggle for Schiavone in 2013, as she entered this week's event with a record of just 5-8. The Italian veteran doubled that win total this week and didn't lose a set while doing so.
"This was a great week for me after a long, very difficult period," Schiavone said. "To win here is a great start to the clay court season for me and inspires me to keep working hard."
Dominguez Lino, who went three sets in each of her first four matches this week, was appearing in her fifth career final and fell to 2-3 in title matches. The Spaniard's only two wins have come in Bogota -- in 2006 and again 2011.
Schiavone, who claimed a first prize of $40,000, improved to 4-1 lifetime against Dominguez Lino.
