Francois Calmels fired a 5-under 67 on Saturday and cruised to a 7-stroke victory at the Challenge de Madrid.
Calmels, who began the final round one clear of the field, finished at 17- under 271 and wrapped up his second Challenge Tour victory. The Frenchman's previous win on the tour came at the 2009 Telenet Trophy.
"I hit all the right shots and made a lot of good decisions, which was really satisfying because the conditions were tough out there today," said Calmels, who moved to fifth place in the Challenge Tour Rankings.
Tapio Pulkkanen carded a 71 at El Encin Golf Hotel and ended alone in second place at 10-under. Thomas Norret (74) took third place at 9-under, while Sam Walker (69), Edouard Dubois (73) and Jens Dantorp (74) tied for fourth at 8- under.
Calmels opened his final round with an eagle, finding the fairway with his drive, reaching the par-5 green with an eight iron and nailing the 40-foot putt. He never relinquished the lead, countering five birdies against two bogeys the rest of the way to wrap up the emphatic win.
