The Phoenix Suns will be looking for the best talent evaluator as their next general manager, no matter how much experience that person has.

The Suns parted ways with Lance Blanks on Monday, ending a three-year stint of losing with the former player who had no previous experience as a general manager.

President of Basketball Operations Lon Babby said on Tuesday that the franchise will judge candidates to replace Blanks based on their ability to find the right players, not what job they held before.

Babby said it's unlikely the next GM would be someone already on staff, though he didn't rule it out. He'd also like to have someone in place before the NBA draft and before hiring a new coach, whether it's interim Lindsey Hunter or someone else.
