The Calgary Flames' recent surge came too late to help them get into the playoffs, but they'll still shoot for a sixth win in seven games when they visit the free-falling Nashville Predators at Bridgestone Arena.
Both the Flames and Predators will miss this year's postseason, but Calgary has been able to play well down the stretch, winning three in a row and five of six.
Nashville, meanwhile, has lost eight straight games and the club picked up its first point of the slide when it lost in overtime to Chicago on Friday.
The Flames will miss the postseason for the fourth straight spring, but the Predators are out of the playoffs for just the second time in nine seasons.
Calgary has outscored the opposition by a 10-4 margin during its three-game win streak and the Flames are coming off Sunday's 4-1 triumph over Minnesota, a team that is locked in a battle for the last playoffs in the Western Conference.
Mike Cammalleri and Mark Cundari posted a goal and assist each, as Calgary downed the playoff-hopeful Wild on the road. Mikael Backlund and Jiri Hudler also lit the lamp for the Flames, while Joey MacDonald stopped 34-of-35 shots for the win.
"Whoever we put in the lineup, they play with pride," Flames head coach Bob Hartley said.
It was the third straight road win for the Flames, who are closing the season on a four-game swing. Calgary, which is just 6-13-2 on the road, will also visit St. Louis and Chicago before completing its schedule.
The Predators hope a few days of rest can help them end their 0-7-1 slide. Nashville had three full days off following Friday's 5-4 loss to the NHL- leading Blackhawks, who won it on Marian Hossa's power-play goal 52 seconds into overtime.
Matt Halischuk had two goals and an assist in the loss and Bobby Butler gave a added a goal and a helper. Pekka Rinne gave up all five goals on 30 shots in the loss.
"Everybody's pushing to try to get a win," said Nashville head coach Barry Trotz. "It's one thing or another. All their goals came off turnovers."
Nashville has been playing lately without injured forwards Mike Fisher (hand), Patric Hornqvist (upper body) and Brandon Yip (lower body). All three players are questionable for Tuesday.
The Preds have won three of four and four of the last six meetings with Calgary and the Flames have dropped three in a row in the Music City.
Nashville, which is 10-9-4 at Bridgestone Arena, is playing its final home test of the season tonight and will close its schedule on a two-game road trip.
