Atlanta Braves outfielder Jason Heyward underwent appendectomy surgery on Monday.

According to the Braves' Twitter page, the surgery was performed at the Rose Medical Center in Denver. The Braves were there as they are playing a three- game series against the Rockies, but Monday's game was postponed due to snow and will be made up Tuesday afternoon.

The Braves did not provide any further information on Heyward's surgery, when he will return or who will fill in at his position.

Heyward, 23, is hitting .121 with two home runs and five RBI in 17 games this season.
