Edmonton Oilers forward Ryan Nugent-Hopkins will miss the final week of the season because of a shoulder injury that will likely require surgery.

The Oilers said Nugent-Hopkins is headed to Cleveland to have his shoulder examined.

Nugent-Hopkins appeared in 40 games this season and notched four goals with 20 assists for 24 points. He also had a shoulder injury last season and played 62 games, compiling 18 goals and 34 assists for 52 points in his rookie campaign.

The British Columbia native was selected by the Oilers with the first overall pick of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. He just turned 20 years old earlier this month.
