KANSAS, RACE DAY – Matt Kenseth, suddenly one of the sport’s fastest qualifiers, will start from the pole today in the STP 400, the eighth race of the Sprint Cup season. Kenseth turned a record lap at 191.864 in qualifying Friday, again underlining the new speed generated by the Gen-6 model. Also starting the 1 p.m. ET race in the top five – Carl Edwards, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Sam Hornish Jr. and Kyle Busch. The weather forecast for the speedway area is good, with a high expected in the upper 60s and a 20 percent chance of rain.
