Astros' J.D. Martinez placed on disabled list

The Houston Astros have placed outfielder J.D. Martinez on the 15-day disabled list on Thursday.

Martinez, 25, was batting .244 with two home runs and seven RBI this season before spraining his right knee during Friday's 3-2 win against the Indians.

In addition, the Astros activated outfielder Fernando Martinez from the 15-day disabled list. He was placed on the DL on March 27 with a strained left oblique. He played in 41 games with the Astros in 2012, hitting .237 with six home runs and 14 RBI.
