Steve LeBrun carded his second straight 3-under 68 on Friday to grab a share of the lead at the RBC Heritage before second-round play was suspended due to rain.
Seventeen players remained on the course when play was halted. They will finish up their second round at 8:00 a.m. (ET) Saturday prior to the start of the third round.
LeBrun was joined atop the leaderboard by Kevin Streelman and Charley Hoffman, who both finished their second rounds with 1-under 70s to end 36 holes at Harbour Town Golf Links at 6-under-par 136.
Luke Donald (68) and Bill Haas (69) occupy fourth place at 5-under, while Graeme McDowell tied the low round of the day with a 4-under 67 to move into a large group of players tied for sixth at 4-under 138.
"I managed my game very well. I kind of didn't feel very comfortable over the ball, but I missed it in spots that I needed to miss it," said Donald, who lost in a playoff to Brandt Snedeker here in 2011. "It wasn't terrible golf, it just wasn't controlling trajectory like I'd like to, when you know you're not under control."
Streelman went out with one of the early waves and quickly picked up a shot at the second before stumbling to a bogey at the third.
He followed that with back-to-back birdies at the fourth and fifth to move to 7-under and grab sole possession of first place, but fell back into a tie with first-round leader Brian Davis with a 2-putt bogey at the eighth.
His par putt at the 11th then settled three inches from the hole to put him back to even par on the day after he tapped in for bogey, but he was able to get one of those shots back with a 3-foot birdie putt at the 15th.
Streelman closed with three pars to remain at 6-under.
"I didn't hit it quite as crisply as I did yesterday and had a lot of putts around the edge, but overall if I can keep myself in position to contend on the weekend I'm happy," said Streelman.
Hoffman, meanwhile, started on the back nine and opened with a bogey at the 10th, but bounced back with a 7-foot birdie putt at the 12th.
After recording another bogey at the 15th, he parred the next seven holes until he rolled in another birdie at the fifth.
He gave that shot right back by 2-putting for a bogey from within five feet at the sixth, but closed with consecutive birdies at the eighth and ninth to join Streelman atop the leaderboard.
LeBrun countered a birdie at the second with back-to-back bogeys at the third and fourth, but he would not drop another shot for the remainder of his round.
He started to make his move towards the leaders with a 9-foot birdie putt at the seventh, and followed another birdie at the ninth with a 27-foot birdie putt at the 10th to get to 5-under.
LeBrun then parred the next four holes before grabbing a share of the lead with a short birdie putt at the 15th and closed with three straight pars.
"I've hit it really well. I took a week off last week and I feel fresh and ready to go," LeBrun stated at the end of his round. "For me, it all comes down to short game."
Davis fell out of contention with a disastrous front nine, starting with a bogey at the 10th -- his first.
He later ran off a streak of four straight bogeys starting at the 15th to hit the turn at 1-under for the tournament.
Davis was able to steady himself during his inward nine, though, as he closed with six pars, two birdies and a bogey to finish four strokes behind the leaders entering the weekend.
NOTES: Peter Hanson and Greg Chalmers both withdrew during the second round ... Twelve of the players left on the course sit below the projected cut line of 1-over ... Defending champion Carl Pettersson currently sits right on the line following his 4-over 75 on Friday. A defending champ at the RCB Heritage has not missed the cut since 1993.
