Duke University extended the contract of women's head basketball coach Joanne P. McCallie for two years through the 2018-19 season on Friday.

McCallie led the Blue Devils to a fourth consecutive Elite Eight appearance in the NCAA Tournament this past season as well as the program's third ACC Tournament title in the past four years. Duke posted a 33-3 overall record and a 17-1 mark in conference play in 2012-13 to earn a No. 2 seed in the Norfolk Regional, where the Blue Devils eventually fell to Notre Dame in the final.

"My family and I are just thrilled to extend our time in Durham and to represent Duke University, while working with such a great group of women and exceptional staff," said McCallie. "(Athletic director) Kevin White's support, leadership and expertise are so appreciated. We are excited to be a part of Duke Athletics during this exciting time."

McCallie has compiled a 174-35 record over six seasons at Duke and guided the Blue Devils to the NCAA Tournament in each of those years. She was named the ACC's Coach of the Year for the third time in 2012-13.

"Joanne's amazing track record of success -- both on and off the basketball court -- speaks for itself," said White. "With her extraordinary winning percentage, coupled with outstanding graduation rates and academic success, we are extremely proud to have an elite coach such as Joanne firmly established as the leader of the Duke womens basketball program."

Over 21 seasons as a head coach, which includes stops at Michigan State and Maine, McCallie has amassed a 460-181 record.
