GOING FOR A TRIPLE – Four drivers have a shot at moving into a zone of their own in Sunday's race. Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Gordon, Greg Biffle and Tony Stewart have won two races each at Kansas. One could become the first to win three.

KANSAS, DAY ONE – For the second straight week, Sprint Cup drivers will tackle a 1.5-mile track as teams begin preparations today for Sunday’s STP 400 at Kansas Speedway.
The challenges at Kansas will be quite different from those addressed last week at Texas Motor Speedway, however. Kansas was repaved last season, and teams are still adjusting to its new landscape. Additionally, Sunday’s race, the eighth of the season, will be the first for the Gen-6 car here.
Sprint Cup drivers share the Kansas City weekend with the Camping World Truck Series, which has scheduled a Saturday race. The trucks are scheduled to practice at 10 a.m. ET and 3 p.m. today. The 3 p.m. session will be broadcast by SPEED.
SPEED also will cover the 1 p.m. Sprint Cup practice and Sprint Cup qualifying at 4:30 p.m.
There is little chance of rain in the speedway area today, but winds are expected to gust to 25 miles per hour.
