The University of Illinois at Chicago has given head men's basketball coach Howard Moore a three-year contract extension through the 2017-18 season.

Moore led the Flames to an 18-16 record this season. the most for the program since the 2007-08 campaign. UIC advanced to the postseason for the first time since 2004, and defeated Chicago State in the first-round of the CollegeInsider.com Tournament (CIT), tallying the program's first-ever postseason win. The Flames then lost to Northern Iowa to conclude Moore's third season at the school.

"As a staff, we are very proud of the things we accomplished last season - we had great senior leadership, and our young guys really bought into the vision of our program," Moore said. "But we're not satisfied. Our goals are to compete for championships year-in and year-out. Everything is about our approach - in recruiting, in practice, in the classroom and in competition. We're very excited about this offseason, and are looking forward to our continual climb to the top of the Horizon League."
