The Columbus Blue Jackets have assigned defenseman David Savard to Springfield of the American Hockey League.

Savard had been brought in on an emergency recall but wasn't needed for the Blue Jackets' game at Anaheim on Wednesday night.

The 22-year-old Savard has totaled 44 minutes, 35 seconds of ice time in three games with Columbus this season. He has five goals and 26 assists in 60 games with Springfield.

The St. Hyacinthe, Quebec, native was originally selected by the Blue Jackets in the fourth round of the 2009 NHL draft. He has two goals and eight assists in 34 career NHL games.
