Top-ranked Novak Djokovic will play in the Monte Carlo Masters after making a swift recovery from the twisted ankle he sustained on Davis Cup duty.

The Serb injured his right ankle on April 7 during the quarterfinal win against the United States and had been uncertain for the Monte Carlo event.

Djokovic has been training with his coach since Friday and was included in Wednesday's schedule of second-round matches. He will face Russia's Mikhail Youzhny after receiving a first-round bye.

Djokovic lost to eight-time champion Rafael Nadal in straight sets in last year's final. He is in the same half of the draw as fourth-seeded Tomas Berdych and No. 5 Juan Martin del Potro.
